Formerly a managing director at Burson-Marsteller, the
world’s largest public relations agency, Nigel Smith had already
spent the previous 14 years with The Chase Manhattan Bank, the last seven
as vice president and director of corporate communications. In this role he was responsible for public relations and
employee communications for all of the bank’s geographic operations,
first in Asia and subsequently in Europe and the Middle East.
After establishing Shere Associates as a specialist production and communications consultancy in 1995,
he continued to work as a communications adviser to a number
of large financial institutions. Today, his and the firm's emphasis has shifted to the development of integrated employee pension communications programmes, including on-line solutions and pension statement production.
